The North Front Range
Metropolitan Planning Organization (NFRMPO) along with Region 4 of the
Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), the Town of Berthoud,
Larimer County,
Weld County,
and the Town of Johnstown have completed an
Access Control Plan (ACP) report for the State Highway 56 corridor in Larimer
and Weld Counties. This plan includes a
portion of Larimer County Road 8 immediately west of U. S. Highway 287 and Weld
County Road 44 between Interstate Highway 25 and Weld County Road 13.
The report provides a comprehensive roadway access design
plan. The plan strives to achieve the optimum balance between state and
local transportation planning objectives, and to preserve and support the
current and future functional integrity of the highway.
Now that the report has been completed, CDOT will be
pursuing intergovernmental agreements (IGAs) with the four units of local
government (Berthoud, Johnstown, Larimer County,
and Weld County) to adopt the ACP for State
Highway 56.
