NFRMPO Reviewing Strategic Action Plan
Windsor, Colorado – Members of the North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization (NFRMPO), the federally-designated transportation planning organization and state-designated air quality planning agency for the North Front Range region, held a retreat on Thursday March 4th at the Windsor Recreation Center to begin discussion on a new Long Range Strategic Action Plan (SAP). The Long Range SAP, last updated in 2004, contains value statements and their associated implementation steps to guide the NFRMPO’s advisory committees and staff in direction, priority-setting and implementation efforts.
The NFRMPO’s Transportation and Air Quality Planning Council analyzed the current Long Range SAP and proposed initial revisions and directives for the SAP update process. The Planning Council consists of fifteen local government representatives and two members from the state Air Quality Control Commission and the state Transportation Commission. The new SAP is scheduled for completion in December 2010.
The Council also discussed the NFRMPO’s Regional Transit Plan, a required component of the 2035 Regional Transportation Plan Update to be published in Fiscal Year 2011, with consultants Suzanne O’Neill and George Krawzoff of TransitPlus. Council members identified the need for regional cooperation and coordination in transit services in order to maximize financial resources, develop a multi-modal network, and accommodate a dynamic population.
